San Juan Island author Mary Ellen Courtney’s debut novel, “Wild Nights,” has just received another notable award. It was named Winner in the New Fiction category of the 2013 National Indie Excellence Awards (NIEA).
The award contest recognizes top-level self-published books that can stand next to those of the mainstream publishers.
The NIEA organization is based in Los Angeles, California. Ellen Reid, President and CEO said, ”Never in the history of our contest have we had such a difficult time arriving at the choices for Winners and Finalists in each category. Not only did we receive an unprecedented number of entries, but the quality and sophistication of the books submitted were at a whole new level of excellence.”
The competition is judged by independent experts from all aspects of the indie book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers and professional copywriters. They select award winners and finalists based on overall excellence.
Mary Ellen and her husband Wayne Fitzgerald, veterans of the film business, live on San Juan Island full-time. The book is available locally at the San Juan Island Co-op, Griffin Bay Books or directly from the local publisher www.porterchancebooks.com. It is also available on Amazon.com.
Way to go, MaryEllen!
