Ride the Ferries to a Seahawks Victory!
Seattle Seahawks fever is higher than it’s ever been, and that is of course because the Hawks are in the Super Bowl for the second time! The first was after the 2005 season, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Hawks were defeated. This game will pit them against the Denver Broncos at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. PST.
Because the Seahawks are the Pacific Northwest’s only NFL team, they have a huge legion of fans in all the states around here as well as in Canada. Fans are so enthusiastic and have set so many sound records at CenturyLink Field in Seattle that they are referred to as the 12th man.
The 12th man will get a huge shout0ut tomorrow (game day!), especially if they ride the ferries! In celebration of the Seahawks making it to the NFL’s top contest, Governor Jay Inslee has directed Washington State Ferries to symbolically name the ferries after the team on Super Bowl Sunday.
“We couldn’t be more proud of our Seahawks as they represent our state in the Super Bowl,” the governor told Seattlepi.com. “We’ve already raised the 12th Man flag on each ferry, and this honorary name change is one more way for us to show our appreciation.”
Each of the ferry system’s 22 vessels has been renamed after one of the team’s starting players.
