Watchable Wildlife
The San Juan Islands are home to a wide variety of plant life and manificent watchable wildlife; whales, seals, eagles and hawks to name a few. Many of our guests come to the Islands in summer to see the Orca whales, but the winter is also a magical time to visit. The San Juans are the winter home for a number of northern migrating species including the Trumpeter Swan and Rough-legged Hawk - species you would have to go to the Arctic Circle to see in spring! One of the best viewing areas for birding is American Camp on the south end of the Island.

It's Easy Being Green
Over the past five years, we have made a number of changes to promote ecological practices at the Inns without sacrificing the safety or services that we provide our guests. We have implemented a recycling program (that is where we need your help - look out for the blue recycle containers in guest rooms and in common areas!); replaced kitchen and laundry appliances with those with energy star ratings; installed low-flush toilets, showers and a drip irrigation system for our gardens; and switched to concentrated organic cleaners and fluorescent lighting. Guest bathrooms now have amenity dispensers to eliminate personalized bottles. Don't worry, the large dispensers are filled with the same handmade organic products. We have converted to a paperless reservation system and implemented an e-newsletter to keep you informed of 'news' at the Inns.
We also try to stay Green with our food service. We purchase seasonal and organic produce from Island farms whenever possible. The Inn's organic garden supplies herbs, edible flowers and apples for Coho Restaurant and your breakfast and cut flowers for your guest room.
